Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CloudSlash website, SaaS platform, CLI tools, plugin registry, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by CloudSlash ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
CloudSlash provides cloud infrastructure optimization tools including:
- CLI Tool: Open-source command-line interface for scanning, analyzing, and remediating cloud waste (licensed under AGPLv3)
- Horizon SaaS: Web-based dashboard for team collaboration, approval workflows, and cloud cost management
- Plugin Registry: Marketplace for discovering and installing cloud provider plugins (plugin SDK licensed under Apache 2.0)
- Plugin SDK: Framework for building custom plugins (licensed under Apache 2.0)
3. Account Registration
You must create an account to access the SaaS platform. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
You may authenticate via SSO providers (GitHub, Google, SAML). Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or cloud infrastructure
- Upload malicious code, plugins, or content to the registry
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the CloudSlash SaaS platform. Note: the CLI and Plugin SDK are open-source software — you may modify, fork, and redistribute them under their respective licenses (AGPLv3 for CLI, Apache 2.0 for SDK)
- Use the Service to perform actions on cloud infrastructure you do not own or have authorization to manage
- Resell or redistribute the SaaS platform without written permission
5. Cloud Infrastructure Access
CloudSlash requires read access to your cloud infrastructure to perform waste analysis. For the CLI, all processing occurs locally on your machine. For the SaaS platform, you grant CloudSlash permission to read resource metadata from your connected cloud accounts.
Important: CloudSlash will never delete, modify, or provision resources without your explicit approval through the remediation workflow. Every proposed change requires human approval and is snapshot-first for rollback safety.
6. Plugin Registry
Third-party plugins in the registry are provided by independent developers under their own responsibility. CloudSlash reviews plugins for security but does not guarantee their functionality, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Plugin authors are solely responsible for their plugins' behavior, licensing, compliance, and any consequences arising from their use.
By publishing a plugin, you grant CloudSlash a non-exclusive license to distribute, display, and promote your plugin through the registry. You retain full ownership of your plugin code.
Plugin author indemnification: Plugin authors agree to indemnify and hold harmless CloudSlash from any claims, losses, or damages arising from their plugin's behavior, including but not limited to data loss, infrastructure damage, or security vulnerabilities introduced by the plugin.
7. Licensing
CloudSlash uses a dual-license model:
- Core Engine (CLI, TUI, Daemon, Web UI): Licensed under GNU AGPLv3. The SaaS platform is free to use — you do not need to open-source your usage or configuration.
- Plugin SDK and Plugins: Licensed under Apache 2.0. You can build proprietary, closed-source plugins without any restrictions.
Your cloud data and configurations processed by the Service remain yours. CloudSlash claims no ownership over your infrastructure data.
8. Payment and Billing
The CLI tool and plugin SDK are free forever. The Horizon SaaS platform offers a free tier and paid plans. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. All fees are non-refundable except as required by law. We may change pricing with 30 days' notice.
9. Data and Privacy
Our collection and use of your data is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Intellectual Property
The CloudSlash name, logo, and brand are trademarks of CloudSlash. The open-source components are licensed under their respective licenses (AGPLv3 for core, Apache 2.0 for SDK). You may not use our trademarks without written permission.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE. YOU USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
CLOUDSLASH PROVIDES OPTIMIZATION RECOMMENDATIONS BASED ON ANALYSIS OF YOUR INFRASTRUCTURE. WHILE WE USE MATHEMATICAL MODELS TO ASSESS SAFETY, YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ACTIONS TAKEN ON YOUR CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLOUDSLASH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
THE CLI TOOL AND PLUGIN SDK ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE UNDER OPEN-SOURCE LICENSES. THE SaaS PLATFORM IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE DURING THE BETA PERIOD. BECAUSE NO FEES ARE CHARGED FOR THESE SERVICES, CLOUDSLASH'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100) OR THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WHICHEVER IS LESS.
CloudSlash is not liable for any actions taken based on optimization recommendations. All remediation actions require explicit human approval before execution. You are solely responsible for reviewing and approving any changes to your cloud infrastructure.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CloudSlash from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
14. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will delete your data within 30 days of account termination, unless retention is required by law.
15. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which CloudSlash operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of that jurisdiction.
